Excerpt from Kelise's Beginning (Part 2) by Kelsey

We traveled through a narrow, stone tunnel located in what looked like a dungeon area and came to an antechamber with a door at one end.
“Wait here.” Aggie said. She knocked and poked her head into the adjacent chamber. She turned and waved me inside.
We entered an oval shaped chamber that looked a bit like a court room. (Was I on trial for something?) Raised benches along the walls held a group of yawning older men, most of whom were wearing nightclothes and bathrobes.
On the floor in front of the walls separating the benches from the floor I stood on were two steps. On the steps, there stood a semicircle of dragons and humans. The center of the semicircle was the golden dragon that had kidnapped me. Two paces to its right was a beautiful aqua colored dragon with strange fin-like projections on the sides of its head. Standing in front of the aqua dragon was the young woman I had seen earlier. To their right, lay curled a long, ruby red dragon that might have been Chinese; in front of it, stood a boyish-looking woman with blazing red hair. To the left of the golden dragon stood a smallish green dragon looked somewhat friendly. Aggie left my side to stand in front of it. Beside the green dragon, was a black dragon with red ram’s horns. In front of the black dragon stood a young woman with white-blond hair. The woman wore a tight, black jacket, knee high boots and a scowl on her face. She did not look like someone I wanted to cross.
The golden dragon came forward a little. It leaned its head down to my level.
“Greetings.” It rumbled.
“Hi.” I said hesitantly.
“I am called Hornagal. What is your name?” the dragon said.
“Kelise Kennedy.”
“Ah, that is your name! How old are you, Kelise?”
“Fifteen.” I answered.
“Hornagal, she has questions.” Aggie said.
“Ah, well, let us here them.” Hornagal said.
“Um, well, where am I?” I asked.
“Didn’t Aggie tell you? You are in the Dragon Kingdom.”
“I know, but where is the Dragon Kingdom?”
“That is harder to explain. The Dragon Kingdom is above your world, in the literal sense.”
I laughed out loud. “A magical kingdom in the sky, oh, get real!”
“I’m quite serious.”
“I can tell. I’m sorry; I’m just really confused right now.” I said. “So, if this ‘Dragon Kingdom’ is above our world; how come we down on earth can’t see it?”
“This is still earth, Kelise. The reason it can’t be seen is because it is concealed with magic. It can only be seen through portals scattered throughout your world.”
“And how would one find one of these portals?”
“A human probably wouldn’t; dragons are the only creatures that can see these portals.”
“If the Dragon Kingdom is in the sky, why haven’t rocket ships crashed into the bottom of it or something?”
“The Dragon Kingdom can only be touched and seen from within.”
“That makes absolutely not sense.”
“To you, it would only seem to exist if you’re here.”
“Okay, fine, I’ll try to accept that.” I said. “But, why am I here? Aggie told me that you guys wanted to talk to me, but about what?”
“I’d like to see if you can guess why you’re here.” Hornagal said.
“I don’t even know who you guys are!” I said.
“Let me rephrase that, can you guess who or what we are?”
The Aqua dragon next to Hornagal muttered to him in a woman’s voice. “You’re really going to ask her that? Not one of them has gotten it right yet.”
I looked around at the assembly. The dragons were of all different colors and breeds, and the humans standing in front of them wore the same color that dominated the dragon standing behind them.
“I think… I might know the answer to this question. I’m a bit of a fantasy geek, and I’ve read no shortage of books on dragons.”
“Great, a reader. Why couldn’t you have picked a warrior, or at least someone of use?” The nasty-looking woman sneered.
The green dragon looked sharply at Silver and said in the voice of a young woman: “Silence, the girl is talking!”
Satisfied that there wouldn’t be another outburst, Hornagal motioned for me to continue.
“If I had to take a stab at it, I’d say that, judging from the way you’re arranged and the people are dressed, you might be a group of dragons and dragon riders.”
Everyone else in the room looked absolutely shocked; Hornagal beamed.

Darkness On Its Shadows by Miguel

Im darkness hiding in the shadows.
screaming for help not to be in this cold room, with tears coming down my eyes.
Just ones, So i can understand.
fighting just to survive, but then she thought me i can't.
I know you  hear and see the pain inside me.
You’re my hero for so many reasons....
“I just wanna be alone”
I might not understand, but i want happiness in you.
i really don't care what i feel anymore.
Ill do anything just to have you back.
im just looking for love like you once did and you founded with me.
Karma is sweet right?
But remember Real eyes realize real lies.
Your kisses tells me you love me but your eyes always rejected me.
with sadness and sorrow i will always love you.
Te Amo.

Excerpt from Kelise's Beginning (Pt. 2) by Kelsey

When I awoke, the dragon was gone. I sat up and looked around. Someone had brought me into the hallway, out of the cold. Several torches were lit. I thought I was alone until someone cleared their throat.
I spied a tall, willowy woman leaning against the entrance to the balcony. She was about twenty; she had a mane of blond curls that looked as if she hadn’t had a chance to brush them when she was called from bed. The woman wore a emerald green bathrobe over a long, white nightgown. She was watching me with shrewd brown eyes.
I carefully got to my feet; I was still shaky. “Who are you?” I asked.
“My name is Agnis Miginney, but most call me Aggie.” the woman said. “How do you do?”
“Um, okay, I guess.”
Her English is a little to formal for it to be her normal language. I thought.
Aggie started down the hall and beckoned for me to follow. “Follow me please.”
“I’m not following a stranger in a weird place like this!” I said. “Where am I? What the heck am I doing here? Is this a dream?”
“You are in the Dragon Kingdom. As to why you are here, that is not my place to tell you.”
“The Dragon Kingdom? Seriously?? That is definitely a stupid dream name.”
“You aren’t dreaming, K; this is real.”
“Of course you’d say–wait, what did you just call me?”
“He told us that your father called you K; I assumed that was your name.
“Wait, Kay as in K–A–Y, or K as in the letter K?”
“I do not know; I’ve never seen it spelled out.”
“My name is Kelise; only my family ever calls me K. How do you know my nickname? Even for a dream, it’s out of the ordinary.”
“Come with me, please.” Aggie said, beckoning me once again.
“No! I’m not following you anywhere!” I turned and ran.
I raced down similar hallways of stone. I opened doors, searching for a staircase of some kind, but I found only bedrooms and closets. I was delighted to discover a narrow, winding staircase behind a door I thought would conceal a closet. I came to a hall with soaring ceilings at the bottom of the stair. Long tables stood along walls with towering stain-glass windows. I banged through the double-doors at the end, coming into an enormous hall, almost empty of furniture.
I saw a huge set of double doors, one of which was slightly ajar. I looked around me, but it didn’t seem as if I’d been followed. I slipped past the door; I was outside! I ran through a stone courtyard, out to a gravel path that led across sprawling grounds. The moonlight shone like daylight, illuminating a high metal gate.
I shook the gates, but they refused to open. I ran to the walls, but I didn’t have the upper body strength to pull myself up the eight feet to the top. I ran back to the gates and shook them again.
A man looked up at me from the doorway of a house.
“Help!” I said. “Help me!”
The man’s brow crinkled. “Tahw era uoy gniyas, egnarts lrig?” he called.
“What?” I whispered numbly. “What language is that? No one speaks another language in a dream, especially one I don’t know.”
I kind of lost it. I sunk to my knees and started crying. This wasn’t a dream; I was in a strange land far from home. I wanted nothing more than to be curled up in my bed at home.
Someone gently touched my shoulder; I was hardly surprised to see Aggie standing there.
“What do you want with me? I’m just an ordinary girl from Illinois; I’m not anyone special.”
“You are special, Kelise; it’s just not my place to tell you how.”
“I just want to go home.” I said.
“I can tell you that all we want is to talk to you. If you’ll just listen to us, I promise you’ll be home by dawn.”
“I don’t really seem to have a choice.”
Aggie helped me to my feet. The man I had called out to came over to us and asked Aggie a question in that strange language; Aggie responded in kind. The man left, seeming satisfied with whatever she had told him. Aggie led me back up to the castle.

"Song of Life by Kelsey

Born in a special place,
Life looked so grand,
To govern a city so great.

The fullness of life,
The sweetness of death
Peace eternal
We cherish a life truly lived.

Death took you young.
You just took your place.
Oh, Death, thou ways be unknown!
Oh, child, you live now in grace.

The fullness of life,
The sweetness of death
Peace eternal
We cherish a life truly lived.
